Further Freediving Records To Change Hands This Weekend

Competitors at this weekends Wellington Winter Champs are anticipating that alongside likely World Record performances from Wellingtons Kathryn McPhee and David Mullins, that several International regional records will also be broken.

“Indications are that some Australian and British Freediving National Records will also be broken at this weekends event being held at the Porirua Aquatic Centre and Naenae Olympic pool from the 9th – 13th August” Says Joy Cottle, spokesperson for the event.

The Event, being hosted by Wellington Freediving club “Lazy seals” is the last national competition being held prior to the World champs in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt next month.  World Record Holder Mullins is expected to break his current world record this weekend in the Mens Dynamic Apnea event as well as the recently set “Dynamic Without Fins” world record, currently held by German Tom Sietas, while McPhee has her sights firmly set on the womans Dynamic Without Fins record after seizing the NZ record in May which exceeds
the world record by 1m.
