Niki Roderick Sets New National Record

26-08-2011

Niki Roderick set a new Constant Weight without Fins national record for New Zealand yesterday, with a dive to 53m/174 feet during the FIT Gulfstream Invitational 2008.

Niki is trained by FIT Head Instructor Martin Stepanek. The total dive time was 2:30.  According to a press release received by Ms Roderick there was a strong current which made the sink phase and initial half of the ascent a little more difficult than expected, but overall she enjoyed the dive.

Roderick now slips into third place on the CNF women’s AIDA World Rankings List behind the two top Russian women athletes Natalia Molchanova and Natalia Avseenko,  marking  another notch in World Rankings for New Zealand Freedivers.
